"Fall" into great skin with these 5 tips!

      Steve Bell • Oct 08, 2018

It's that time again! Pumpkins, changing leaves, cool crisp weather (it's coming I swear!) and pumpkin spice lattes are just a few of my favorite things in the fall! North Carolina likes to hold on to that heat just a bit longer, but rest assure cool weather is on the way. Let’s discuss some important tips and reminders to get your skin and skincare routine fall ready.

      Tip #1
One of the most important tips for fall would be to continue using your sunscreen! Just because it's cooling off does not mean you no longer need the protection from the sun. The UVA and UVB rays still exist no matter what season and will wreak havoc on our skin if left unprotected. We have our ever popular and my personal favorite, EltaMD. I myself have been using the Elta Clear in the summer months, but make the switch to the EltaMD Daily in fall and winter. This formulation has a little more hydration.

      Tip #2
Take a look at your cleanser and moisturizer. Is it time for a switch up? Our skin tends to be more on the dry side in the cooler months so this is a good time to switch it up. Specifically those that are using acne topicals and receiving acne treatments. Treating acne can be harsh and drying. Stay ahead of the game and be equipped with the right products. If you typically use a medicated wash twice daily during the summer months, consider cutting back to one time a day on the medicated wash, and go for a calming gentle cleanser like the Image Ormedic Balancing Cleanser in its place.

      Tip #3
Have you been considering a chemical peel or laser? Fall is a great time to do that simply because it is a better time to avoid the sun, which is an extremely important part of your post care. Generally extreme temperatures make the post effects of lasers and chemical peels a little more tricky, but the mellow fall weather makes your healing much more simple.

      Tip #4
Do you typically suffer from skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis? Change of season is the time we tend to see these conditions flare up. Don't get caught off guard and run out of your prescription. Come see our experienced providers and get your refills.

      Tip #5
A new season is such a great time not only for a fresh start, but a good reminder to try new things! Have you been considering trying a procedure at our office? Have you been curious about Botox and dermal fillers? Since it's a new season for weather why not make it a new season for you and your skin? Go ahead try something new!
