      What is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup that enhances existing brows or creates the appearance of brows where there may not be any. Using a specialized blade, color pigment is implanted beneath the surface of the skin to produce the appearance of hair strokes, correcting, filling and/or restructuring the existing brow shape.

Every treatment is tailored to the individual, with each stroke placed strategically to obtain the desired shape and fullness based on facial structure, skin tone and personal preferences. But what’s common across the board is that the results are long-lasting, so brow pencils and powders are a thing of the past!

      Why we love it

Framing our eyes, our brows have a bigger impact on our overall appearance than we sometimes realize. Fuller, more defined brows make the whole face look younger, more refreshed and refined. Whether you prefer a natural or more dramatic look, your microblading treatment can be customized to fit your personality and style, and you’ll enjoy the look for 12-18 months with maintenance touch-ups available from there.

      Why Radiance Rx

Artistry, technique and sanitary practices are all needed for great microblading treatments, and our microblading artist, Kristen, brings all three to the table. Experienced as a make-up artist, Kristen uses her understanding of facial balance and symmetry when determining the shape and size of brows, and she leverages her training in color theory when selecting the right pigment. Having worked in a surgical environment, Kristen is strict on sanitation practices. And the hundreds of microblading procedures she’s done since falling in love with the procedure in 2017 have allowed her to perfect her technique so you’re sure to love your look!

      What to Expect

Microblading typically involves 3 visits – a consultation, the initial treatment and a touch up. The consultation is when you’ll decide on the desired shape, color and fullness, and the touch-up with help refine the look.

To keep you as comfortable as possible, treatment visits start with numbing. For the procedure, your provider will draw the planned outline of your brows and will then begin depositing the color selected during your consultation. Although numbed, some patients do feel some discomfort.

Immediately after the procedure, the color will be very vibrant. As the brows heal, the color will settle to a softer tone. The resulting fullness and shape may need to be retouched for optimal results, and those areas are addressed during the touch up visit which is scheduled about 8 weeks from the original treatment. While results can last up to 2 years, a refresh every 12-18 months is recommended to keep the shape and color looking their best.

      FAQs

      • Who is a good candidate for microblading?

Microblading is a great option for patients interested in enhancing existing brows or creating the appearance of brows where there may not be any. This common treatment is a good fit for most, but it is not recommended for individuals with oily skin and may not be suitable for patients with certain conditions.

If you are on ACE inhibitors, have any autoimmune conditions, or have diabetes, you need to obtain approval from your doctor prior to treatment.

Avoid treatment if you are pregnant, have a history of keloids, HIV or hepatitis, have a bleeding or clotting disorder, or if you are on blood thinners.

If you have undergone Chemo or have taken Accutane, wait at least a year before getting microblading.

Pre-treat with Valtrex if you have a history of cold sores.

      • Is microblading painful?

Numbing cream is used to desensitize the brow area for the procedure. You may still experience some discomfort, but most patients tolerate the procedure very well.

      • What will my brows look like after treatment?

Your semi-permanent makeup will appear darker and more intense than expected for the first week or two (looks like makeup!). This will gradually lighten during the complete healing process, leaving a softer more natural look in the healed skin.

Your eyebrow tattoo will eventually look softer and have more of a "powdered" look. This happens with all clients as the skin ages. To keep your hair strokes looking their best, a refresher appointment is suggested every 9-24 months. Results vary with each client. Please note that clients with oily skin types will get a softer/powdery result.

      • How long does microblading last?

Microblading is considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, brows will fade over time and may need to be refreshed every 9-24 months. Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: diligence of the client in following aftercare protocols, the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster-Blondes), lifestyle (sun exposure), skin type (oily or dry), and if any chemical peels (AHA, BHA, Retinols) come into contact with treated areas.

      • Can I get microblading while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Avoid microblading during pregnancy. Breastfeeding is not a concern.

      • What should I do to prepare for my treatment or touch up?

Stop using any skin thinners (Vitamin A, glycolic acids, aha/bha’s, anti-aging products, & exfoliation products/creams, facials & laser treatments) on or around the brow/facial area 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

Do not consume alcohol, caffeine or take any blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, Niacin, fish oil) 72 hours before your procedure. Not adhering to this may cause excess bleeding and may affect your results.

Note you may experience hypersensitivity and more pain around or during your menstrual cycle.

Stop using brow/lash growth serums 1 month prior to treatment as they stimulate more blood flow to the area and can cause excessive bleeding during procedure.

Be aware that microblading will not be done over any blemishes, sores, moles, dry/flaking, or sun damaged skin in or around the brow area.

      • What should I do post-treatment or touch-up?

After treatment, keep your brows dry from water & sweat for 7-10 days and do not apply any cosmetics to your new tattoo until fully healed (after flaking is done). Keep the area clean and let it breathe. Your skin may start to feel tight/dry 3-5 days post tattoo session.

After-care and avoiding certain activities, products, etc. post-treatment is crucial. It is very important to follow these instructions to ensure proper healing and color retention.

        THINGS NOT TO DO:

        • DO NOT go into high sun exposure during the healing process. UV Rays can alter the pigment of your tattoo.
        • DO NOT use cleansers, soaps or any other creams on your brow tattoo.
        • DO NOT run direct water on your brow tattoo. This is especially important in the first few days. You do not want to wash out any pigment.
        • DO NOT use Repanthen, Vaseline, Neosporin or any petroleum-based products on your tattoo.
        • DO NOT use any make up, creams, or exfoliants on the brows for 2 weeks.
        • DO NOT go into saunas, pools, or steam rooms during the healing process.
        • DO NOT get massages, facials, or skin treatments during the healing process.
        • DO NOT use exfoliants, retinol acids, or AHA’s on the area for 30 days after getting your tattoo. These products will prematurely fade your tattoo.
        • DO NOT use laser light therapy on your brow tattoo. This can darken, lighten, and distort the pigment.
